Oyo Assembly To Police: Please Protect LAUTECH Students

1 Min Read

The Oyo State House of Assembly has appealed to the police and other law enforcement agencies in the state to protect members of the Ogbomosho community, especially the hostels of the students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) located in the town.

This appeal was made by the Speaker of the House, Michael Adeyemo, when the Assembly held its plenary on Tuesday.

This is coming on the heels of a protest on Monday by students of the school concerning what they described as the frequent raiding of their rooms by armed robbers who cart away their valuables including laptops, mobile phones and devices, and cash, and rape their female colleagues.

Hon. Adeyemo said that his mobile phone was inundated with calls and text messages notifying him about the plight of the students and the security situation in the community.

He charged the Police Command to ensure normalcy is restored to the community, while imploring the management of LAUTECH to collaborate with the security agencies to ensure security in student hostels.
