The Ogun State Election Petition Tribunal premises in Abeokuta was yesterday turned to a battle field as supporters of All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) engaged each other in free for all.

Those who fell victim in the fracas in which canes were freely used included former chairman of Yewa North local council, Evangelist Titus Olusoji Eweje, Sesan Orelaja, and former Women Leader of the Labour Party (LP) Mrs. Omolola Soyombo.

However, the National Auditor of the PDP, Alhaji Wole Adeyanju and the state party chairman, Chief Bayo Dayo, were lucky to escape.

Counsels, party faithful and journalists who were inside the court had to wait when the whole premises was turned to a battle field in the presence of the security operatives who were overwhelmed by the hoodlums.

Earlier, counsel to all the parties adopted their final written addresses and were allowed to address the court while respondents also replied on point of law.

The PDP governorship candidate in the 2015 election, Prince Gboyega Isiaka is challenging the victory of Governor Ibikunle Amosun at the poll.

The petitioners had requested the court to cancel elections in nine local councils and declare Isiaka the winner of the April 11 poll or order for a free election in those contentious local councils.

Towards the end of the sitting, some youths with cane, suspected to be political thugs invaded the premises and a fight ensued between supporters of the two leading parties in the state.
