The Senate has directed its committees on Petroleum Resources (Upstream and Downstream) to immediately commence investigation into the causes of the current fuel crisis in the country.
This followed a motion by the Deputy Senate Majority Leader, Senator Abdul Ningi, who asked the upper chamber to investigate the ongoing fuel crisis that has led to hardship for many Nigerians.
Senator Ningi said it was legally and morally wrong to keep silent about the fuel scarcity or sweep it under the carpet as the fuel scarcity is causing severe hardship for citizens.
Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, who presided over the plenary noted that since Ningi raised the motion under personal explanation, the senate would not debate it.
Ekweremadu asked both committees on downstream and upstream to come up with explanations next Tuesday through which Nigerians will know and plan their future
