The Movement for Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has countered a marching order issued by the Igbo Delegates Assembly (IDA) that Igbos resident outside the South East geopolitical zone should stay and vote in their places of abode during the 2019 general elections.

MASSOB Leader, Comrade Uchenna Madu said the IDA had no right to order Igbos, especially those resident in the North, not to return to Igboland during the “unpredictable” 2019 election.

Madu, in a Tuesday statement, said Igbo lives matter and should not be sacrificed on the altar of political correctness and politics of appeasement.

He added that the IDA’s order was politically motivated and therefore could not be taken seriously.

The MASSOB leader said Hausa/Fulani people resident in Igboland always returned to their states of origin to vote the candidates of their choice during elections and wondered why Igbos could not do same.

According to him, “No individual group including IDA can tell the people of Biafra to abandon their father land during political crises.

“We know that the marching order of IDA is politically motivated and sponsored. Soon, we shall tell our people that believe in Biafra actualisation and restoration what to do before and during the coming general elections.

“MASSOB confirmed that during general elections, the Hausa/Fulani people residing in Biafra land always returned back to Arewa land to support and vote for their preferred candidates in Arewa land, why must some politically sponsored persons claiming Igbo leaders in Northern Nigeria issue a marching order to the people of Biafra residing in Arewa land?”
