Veteran rapper Fat Joe ignited a debate this week with comments suggesting some musicians achieve success by capitalizing on support from the LGBT community.
In an interview with Livebitez, Fat Joe specifically mentioned Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé, attributing their achievements to their large LGBT fanbases. He went on to express concerns about a perceived rise in artists adopting aspects of LGBT fashion for promotional purposes.
“It feels like a new trend,” Fat Joe said. “Guys are like ‘I’m going to join the trend to go viral and sell more records.'”
