Nigerian singer Simisola Kosoko, better known as Simi, recently surprised fans with the revelation that her hit song “Men Are Crazy” was inspired by her husband, Adekunle Gold.

The song, featuring fellow powerhouse Tiwa Savage, stirred debate upon release for its playful yet pointed commentary on men’s behavior. In an interview on Angela Yee’s podcast “Way Up,” Simi shed light on the song’s origins.

“The idea for ‘Men Are Crazy’ actually came from my husband,” Simi confessed. She went on to describe Adekunle Gold’s playful suggestion: “‘Babe, how about we do a song and you say men are crazy but I still want one in my bed?'”

Surprised by the unexpected concept, Simi admitted, “I thought, ‘No one would expect that from me!’ So I went ahead and wrote the song.”

Feeling something was missing after completing the initial verses, Simi decided to collaborate with Tiwa Savage. “We don’t usually have the same musical style,” Simi explained, “but I thought it would be great to find a balance and create something special together.”

The collaboration proved fruitful, with Simi sending the song to Tiwa who then added her verse. The duo even filmed a music video together, solidifying the track as a joint effort.
