5 Men Apprehended For Raping 14-Year-Old Girl In Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has taken into custody five men who allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl and gave her N700.

Spokesman of the state command, DSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, who announced this in a statement on Friday, September 25, gave the names of the suspects as:

 

Sagir Ahmed, 22, Muhammed Tukur, 24, Haruna Baba Babayo, 32, Musa Dahiru, 30, and Bappah Garba, 24, all of Unguwar Baba and Unguwar Chadi Gamawa respectively.

According to Wakil, the suspects were apprehended in Udubo village Gamawa Local Government Area of the state.

 

“The suspects have been raping one Hauwa (not real name) ‘f’ aged 14yrs of the same address at different times and occasion and given her N200, N500 respectively,” Wakil said.

 

“When interrogated all the suspects confessed to the crime. The victim was taken to General Hospital Gamawa for medical attention. Sagir Ahmed mentioned above is wanted for another case of rape. Investigation is in progress after which the suspects will be charged to court for prosecution.” he added.

 

In a similar development, the command arrested one Yusuf Yakubu, 28, of Bayan Ganuwa Yakub for sodomising a 13-year-old boy.

 

According to the PPRO, on September 23, one Usman Ahmed, 46, of Unguwan Doya Gombe road Bauchi reported at ‘A’ Divisional Headquarters Bauchi that the suspect lured his son to his house situated at Bayan Ganuwa area and forcefully had anal sexual intercourse with him.

 

On receipt of the report, a team of policemen were drafted to the scene. The victim was taken to General Hospital Bauchi for medical treatment. The suspect was arrested and confessed to the crime. Investigation is in progress after which suspect will be charged to court for prosecution.

 

Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Lawan Tanko Jimeta has called on the people of the state to continue exercising their civic responsibility of giving vital information that may help police in its operations to stem the rise of rape and other crimes in the state.
