Abia Governorship Impasse: The ‘Real’ Abia Elders Stand up

2 Min Read

A group of elders from Abia who called themselves  “the authentic elders of Abia State” have demanded the immediate inauguration of Uche Ogah.

In a meeting led by the traditional Prime Minister of Ibekuland, Chief Uche Akwukwuegbu, along with traditional prime ministers from other parts of the state, titled chiefs, community leaders and village heads of all the autonomous communities across Abia, the elders analysed the political situation in the state and came to the conclusion that it was no for the best for the people of Abia.

They rejected the notion that the Senator Adolphus Wabara-led Abia Concerned Elders spoke for them and said they were not representing the people of Abia.

“This forum would not have responded to them if not for the falsehood, distortion of facts and misleading effect it would have on the people.

“We are the true authentic elders and true representatives of the people of God’s own state and we condemn in its entirety the purported meeting they held in Abuja in the name of Abia elders,” they stated and added that “their resolution does not, in any way, reflect the reality on the ground.” they said.

They also said that what the people of Abia want is Ogah as governor as evidenced by the wild celebrations that ensued when he was announced as winner.
