NCC Blocking Unregistered SIM Cards to Track Criminals – Danbatta

Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission, (NCC), Prof Umar Danbatta has said that the commission decided to block all unregistered SIM cards in order to assist security agencies in tracking and monitoring activities of criminals.

While speaking during the on-going International Trades Fair in Abuja, Prof. Danbatta who was represented by the Head of Public Affairs in the Commission, Reuben Mouka, said “We have severally informed subscribers that it is dangerous to use phone lines that do not bear your identity because it may have been registered by a criminal.

“On the other hand, you should not give out your identity to be used by somebody who you do not know. Therefore, you need keep your phones secure at all times”

Deputy Director Consumers Affairs in the Commission, Mr Femi Atoyebi also added that the commission monitors phone calls of suspected kidnappers and insurgents in the country.
