Stock Market Starts Week Positively

The primary index of the Nigerian Stock Exchange started the week in the green zone in reaction to positive third-quarter (Q3) numbers and speculation of fresh inflows in the market. The All Share Index posted a gain of 1.29% compared to a gain of 0.45% recorded on Friday. The index gained 385 basis points to close at 30,219 basis points today. Market Capitalization for the market at the close of trading today was N10.39 trillion.

The total number of deals recorded on the floor increased by 16.73% against a reduction of 22.19% recorded on Friday. The total volume of shares traded on the floor reduced by 70.77% after increasing by 106.76% on Friday, while the total value of transactions recorded dipped by 17.19% compared to a 32.16% loss recorded on Friday.

The top five most actively traded shares by volume on the exchange today were ZENITHBANK, FBNH, TRANSCOPR, UBA and GUARANTY with a combined total of 49 million shares traded.

Market breadth closed negative as DANGCEM led 18 Gainers against 20 Losers led by GUINNESS.

Year-To-Date currently stands at -12.81%.
