The arrest of an Irish national, Mr James Turner has created fear within commercial sex workers on the street of Lagos.

The 67-year-old Irish national was arrested after his girlfriend, a Nigerian, aged 31, had dragged him to the Ikeja Police Division for deliberately infecting her with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).

Following Mr. Turner’s arrest, it was revealed that he was a frequent visitor of some clubs where he had picked up a few girls.

According to reports, the Irish national was dragged to the police after he failed to settle his 31-year-old Benue State-born girlfriend, Helen, with an earlier promised N2.5million upon discovery that she had been infected.

Helen, in her report, had insisted that Turner whom she has been with for a period of eight years had deliberately infected her with the virus and did not discover until she stumbled upon his anti-retroviral drugs.

Speaking to Vanguard, Helen further accused Turner of infidelity as she caught him in the act with one of her girlfriends after he had been confirmed positive for the virus.

Turner however claimed the reverse as he maintained that Helen had infected him with the virus. He further admitted to the Police that he had so far had sex with about six ladies, especially commercial sex workers.

According to reports, Helen’s friend who was caught pants down with the Irish lover is also in fear of having contracted the virus after she read the publication.

However, the results of her tests are yet to be obtained as she was reported to have visited an undisclosed hospital to confirm her status.
