Borno Killings: Government Gives $1100 to Families of Farmers Slain by Boko Haram

Following the gruesome massacre of Zabarmari farmers by terrorist sect, Boko Haram in Borno, the state governor Babagana Zulum, has compensated a total of 48 bereaved families with N600,000 each.

They received the monetary compensation along with bags of food items donated by a committee assigned by the Governor.

The compensation came as a result of joint effort from the Northern Governors Forum and the North-East Development Commission (NEDC).

The Northern Governors Forum donated a sum of N20million while N5million was from the North-East Development Commission.

A committee headed by Borno state Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Saina Buba, handled the distribution of items in Zabarmari.

Among the team members are House of Reps. and Borno House of Assembly members for Jere constituency, two Special Advisers and the Chairman-elect, Jere Local Government Area.

In total, 13,000 bags of rice, maize and beans; 1,300 cans of vegetable oil; 2116 cartons of seasoning cubes; 1083 tomato, and 650 sachets of salt were distributed to the bereaved families by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs.
