Brits Battling Floods Spot ‘Mermaid’ Going For A Swim

Residents looked on in shock as a ‘mermaid’ flailed in a flooded street as torrential downpours left most of their city underwater.

Flash flooding has hit large swathes of Glasgow as drainage systems were overcome by the relentless showers throughout the weekend, the Daily Record reports.

But one stranded man peering down from his top-floor flat was in for a shock when he spotted a woman sporting a large neon blue mermaid’s tail attempting to swim along his submerged street.

Her attempts to negotiate the watery route seemed as unsuccessful as most of Glasgow’s 600,000 residents’.

Gavin Millar, who snapped the photos, said he lives on the top floor in a flat in Battlefield Gardens and is currently unable to leave.

However, people are convinced the “mermaid” is just a woman doing a photoshoot.

Yesterday motorists struggled through similar conditions which eventually overwhelmed the M8 motorway and saw it closed for several hours.

The unusual sight came as streets across the city dealt with torrential downpours that saw many streets and roads across Glasgow flooded as drainage systems struggled to cope.
