Nigerian Chess Master, Tunde Onakoya, Crushes Competition Halfway Through Record Attempt

Nigerian chess prodigy Tunde Onakoya remains undefeated in his ambitious attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest chess marathon. As of now, Onakoya has been playing continuously for 13 hours, with a staggering 45 hours still to go.

Onakoya, who launched his marathon in the heart of New York City’s Times Square on Wednesday, has already faced and conquered 10 opponents. Among his victories is a win against National Chess Master Shawn Martinez, showcasing Onakoya’s exceptional skill and stamina.

With over half the challenge complete, Onakoya’s sights are firmly set on surpassing the current record of 56 hours, 9 minutes, and 37 seconds, held by a team from Norway. The chess world is watching closely as Onakoya continues his quest to make history, all while raising awareness and funds for global chess education programs for children.
