Adamawa’s Ex Deputy Governor Stoned By Angry Youths

The former deputy governor of Adamawa state, Hon. Saad M.C Tahir who represented former Governor Bala James Ngilari was stoned with sachet water and stones during the swearing in ceremony of Adamawa state Governor, Senator Muhammadu Umaru Jibrila.

It was reported that the drama started shortly after delivering his speech as the crowd intermittently jeered and booed the outgoing deputy governor throughout his speech and was immediately accosted by angry crowd immediately he alighted from the podium.

They accosted him shouting in Hausa, “ Bama so, Karya ne, mash Gudu su Gudu, lokacinku ya yi, where is Bala Ngilari”, meaning “we don’t want liars, your ill administration was over, go away where is Governor Bala Ngilari?”

It took the intervention of party chieftains to calm down the situation as security operatives attached to the outgoing deputy governor use the occasion to whisk him away to safety.

Outgoing commissioners who accompanied the booed deputy governor sneaked out of the famous Muhammadu Ribadu Square, venue of the ceremony on sensing danger and left him to be on his own.

Also former Deputy Governor and a serving senator who represented the Senate President at the occasion, Senator Bello Tukur was not spared as his car was destroyed while his clothes were torn as angry youths pelted him with stones and spread his car with dusty sand.

The outgoing Deputy Governor M. C Tahir had earlier in his speech said that the outgoing administration has done much in the area of fighting insurgency, and has revived education and youth empowerment with the call on the incoming government to improve on the situation

In his acceptance speech, the incoming governor, Sen. Muhammad Bindowo Umaru Jibrilla assured to run an open door policy.

He said Adamawa state is among the most backward states in Nigeria and called on the people to assist him with prayers and good advice so that there will be light at the end of the tunnel.

“With God on our side, we shall overcome the problems bedeviling our state. I am therefore calling on all to join hands in moving the state to greater heights,” he urges.

While commending those who trekked from far away to witness the epoch making ceremony in Yola, the incoming governor also pledged to review the ban on motorbikes in some parts of the state to ease transportation problems.
