The music video released by Afrobeats superstar Davido on behalf of his new signee, Logos Olori, has sparked outrage among Muslim believers due to its perceived disrespect to Islam. The video portrays a group of men dressed in white ‘jalamiya,’ engaging in prayer before transitioning into a dance sequence in front of a mosque.

Davido’s tweet introducing the music video, “Allow me to re-introduce, @logosori with his new single ‘Jaye Lo’… Let’s Run It Up one time! Let’s take over the world,” received harsh criticism from many Muslims who found the content offensive and disrespectful to their religious beliefs. In response to the video, some individuals vowed to stop downloading Davido’s tracks, while others went as far as threatening to take matters into their own hands if the video was not removed and an apology issued.

Kannywood actor Ali Nuhu also joined the chorus of disapproval, expressing his concerns on his Instagram page. He urged Davido and Logos Olori to take into consideration the sensitivities surrounding religion, culture, and tradition. In his post, Ali Nuhu emphasized that being creative in their respective fields should not come at the expense of disrespecting the religious sentiments of others, especially in Islam. He called for the immediate removal of the controversial video and a sincere apology to the entire Muslim ummah for the hurt caused.
