The Commissioner for Health in Ondo State,  Dr Banji Ajaka, has confirmed being beaten up during Saturday’s governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ajaka, a doctor-turned-politician, was reportedly beaten up by some APC supporters in his hometown at Ugbo Ward 3 in Ilaje Local Government Area of the state.

The commissioner was said to have withheld the result sheet of the election in the unit he was holding from members of the party who were curious to know the results of the election in the unit.

This was said to have infuriated the party members.

The irate party members, said to be loyalists of an APC governorship aspirant in the state, reportedly pounced on Ajaka, who was recently appointed as a commissioner by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

In the ensuing fracas, the commissioner was beaten up severely and his clothes torn, it was learnt.

“The Commissioner for Health received a serious beating in his hometown when he was trying to act some funny things there. He was beaten blue and black, and his clothes were torn by the angry APC supporters,” a source said.

Confirming the incident, Ajaka said, “I was beaten by the people. They (APC supporters) accused me of withholding election results, and while trying to explain to them what happened, they just started beating me.”
