The Governor of Sokoto state and former speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has been nominated to intervene in the cold war going on between the leadership of All Progressive Congress (APC).

Last week the national leader of the party, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu called for the immediate resignation of party chairman, Chief Odigie-Oyegun after he accused him of anti-party activities.

Chief Oyegun has not reacted to the allegation noting that he will give a robust reaction after the Edo and Ondo states governorship elections.

Leadership newspaper reports that sources within the APC have confirmed that the presidency has nominated Governor Tambuwal to pacify the aggrieved Tinubu in order to peacefully resolve the crisis which is tearing the party apart.

Other media outlets report that President Buhari had a meeting with the House of Representatives Speaker Yakubu Dogara and Sokoto State Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

It was reported that Dogara and Tambuwal were seen driving to the forecourt of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in a single vehicle.

The closed-door meeting, which took place inside the president’s office, lasted about one hour. The report added.

However, when probed by State House correspondents after the meeting, Dogara and Tambuwal refused to disclose their mission of visiting the president.

Asked if the meeting was about the House of Representatives, Tambuwal responded: “Not at all.”

Governor Tambuwal, however, stated that he and Dogara visited the president to give him support.

On whether the ‘feud’ between the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC)

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and the APC National Chairman John Odigie-Oyegun was discussed during the meeting, Tambuwal said: “I don’t know about that.”

Leadership newspaper, however, claimed that Tambuwal’s visit to the Presidential Villa yesterday afternoon was to brief the president on the progress made so far in resolving the crisis.

The report furthered that the move by Governor Tambuwal has been yielding result as the aggrieved Tinubu yesterday reiterated his unflinching loyalty to President Muhammadu Buhari and the party.

Tinubu said in a statement signed by his media team yesterday that“Tinubu is preoccupied with assisting to find solutions to the present challenges now confronting us as a nation,” the statement read.
