A corporal in the Nigerian Army, Omoh F., has been arrested after he was shown on video assaulting a woman with a belt.

“I can confirm to you that he has been detained and investigations are ongoing,” The Punch quoted spokesman for the 9 Brigade, Major Olaniyi Osoba, to have said.

As earlier reported by The Herald, the incident occurred at an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) point owned by United Bank for Africa (UBA) in Oshodi area of Lagos today.

The lady who tweeted from @vels20 said she was on the queue waiting her turn to get cash when the soldier jumped the queue.

She stated that the soldier flared up when she asked him why he did not wait his own turn like everyone else.

In one of the videos of the incident the victim shared, Omoh could be seen removing his belt which he used to flogged the lady.

He then threatened to flog her until she bleeds.

Entreaties by other customers for the soldier to calm down fell on deaf ears.

The victim said she felt humiliated and cried on her back to her office.

She later told the media that she was considering suing the army over Omoh’s conduct.
