Atiku’s reported ill health joke of the year – Media aide

The camp of the presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has denied a report that he was rushed from Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) to London, United Kingdom (UK) for medical attention.

Media adviser to Atiku, Paul Ibe debunked the report in a Sunday tweet.

An online news medium had reported that Atiku was flown from Dubai to London for medical attention on Sunday.

Quoting an unnamed PDP source, the medium reported, “Atiku is not feeling fine; he is in the hospital receiving treatment. That’s why he is not back in Nigeria for the presidential campaign.

“He was in Dubai but has now left Dubai for London for treatment. He has been flown to the UK for treatment. That is why he is still abroad.”

In his tweet, Ibe described Atiku’s reported ill-health as “joke of the year”.

He said Atiku would be going to London on Monday on the invitation of the British government.

“For the avoidance of doubt, presidential candidate of the PDP and former Vice President of Nigeria (1999-2007) will be arriving in London on Monday, January 9 for meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday on the invitation of the British government,” Ibe said.
