Bandits Kill Four in Renewed Niger Attacks

Alhaji Alaga Olayemi, a businessman and farmer, was kidnapped on Wednesday by unknown gunmen from his farm in Oke-Onigbin, Isin local government area of Kwara, the State Police Command confirmed on Friday.

Four people lost their lives in renewed attacks by bandits on several communities in Niger State.

According to a report by Daily post, the victims were killed when bandits attacked three villages in Manta district within Shiroro local government area.

Dozens of others were injured in the aftermath of the attacks while several villagers were abducted by the assailants at Sunko, Gavya and Marafa villages.

The bandits stormed the villages on motorbikes around 4pm on Wednesday afternoon and shot at everything in sight.

Confirming the attacks, an official of an NGO, concerned Shiroro Youths, Sani Abubakar Yusuf Kokki said the bandits were well coordinated and deadly.

“Among the four people gruesomely gunned down includes a woman who was fleeing to a nearby island for fear of her life but she couldn’t escape as she was eventually shot with a gun from a far distance and she died on the spot.

Many sustained injuries. Apart from human losses, many properties worth huge amounts of money were stolen, many herds of cattle were rustled.”
