Some communities in the Tombo ward, Logo Local Government Area of Benue State have fled and vacated their homes after being attacked by Fulani herdsmen.

The menacing group brought their cattle to the people’s farms and forcefully grazed them there, a community leader alleged.

This led to the massive destruction of crops and led many farmers to desert their homes and take refuge in Ayilamo.

Police spokesman Moses Yamu said he was yet to get a report on the invasion.

Governor of Benue state, Samuel Ortom did say that dialogue should be the tool used in settling disputes against the herdsmen even in matters in court.

He was baffled by the fact that communities are taking up arms against each other rather than celebrating the Easter period. He also said that taking up arms against each other in a period when they also have to consider external aggression was inadvisable.
