The results of last Saturday’s presidential election for Gombe state released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been discovered to contain grave mathematical errors.

The official results from INEC are as follow:

Total No. of Registered Voters: 1. 385, 191
Total No. of Accredited Voters: 604, 240
Total Votes Cast: 380, 649
Total Valid Votes: 554, 203
Rejected Votes: 26, 446

Also, the results for each party include:

AAC: 163
ADC: 348
ADP: 133
APC: 402, 961
PDP: 138, 484
SDP: 248

However, a closer look at the figures shows they don’t match up.

Deducting the 26, 446 rejected votes will leave the figure at 527, 757. The APC scored 402, 796, leaving the total at 124, 796.

This means that the figures provided for PDP, which is 138, 484, and other parties (548) are unaccounted for.
