Buhari inherited completely broken down system – Rep

A member of House of Representatives, Zakari Angulu-Dobi, has appealed to Nigerians to be patient and give President Muhammadu Buhari time to fix the economy.

Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday, Zakari said that the president inherited “a completely broken down system’’ that needed time to be fixed.

The lawmaker, representing APC-FCT South Federal Constituency, also urged Nigerians to have confidence in the APC government and give it the needed support.

“An adage in my place says that when a system is down completely, reworking or fixing it takes a very long time.

“I want to plead with Nigerians to believe that the APC will fix the nation’s challenges, especially the recurring fuel scarcity problem.

“The president is putting measures in place to completely end the petrol scarcity so that Nigeria will not witness it again.

“I am privileged to be a member of the House Appropriation Committee and I know the man has very good plans; the remaining three years is going to be fruitful for Nigerians.’’

Zakari also advised those who contested in last Saturday’s area council poll in the territory to accept the outcome in the spirit of sportsmanship.

He advised losers to accept defeat in good faith and urged winners to be magnanimous in victory and see their election as call to service.

“My advice is that we should be politicians that believe that the game is not a do or die affair. We should believe that God gives power to who he so deems fit.

“As such we should prepare our minds to accept defeat and whoever is declared victorious should know that he has a responsibility.

“I urge the chairmanship and councillorship candidates and their supporters to play the game by the rules.

“Whoever is declared winner should embrace the other to keep the peace in the FCT. It is only through this way we can bring development to our own place,’’ Zakari said.

On his achievements so far, the legislator said he had provided boreholes for five communities across the four area councils in his constituency.

He said that Kwali Area Council got two, while Abaji, Gwagwalada and Kuje got one each.

Zakari said that he had empowered women and youths with over 40 sewing machines, 11 motorcycles and 10 tricycles, among other items.
