There was chaos within the chambers of the Akwa Ibom House of Assembly on Tuesday morning as five All Progressives Congress (APC) removed the Speaker, Hon. Iniofiok Luke and suspended him and 10 others.

There are 26 members of the Assembly.

However, the five APC members led by Hon. Nse Ntuen, who was purportedly elected Speaker last week, arrived early at the assembly complex with thugs and heavily armed policemen and with a mace to commence proceedings.

The members suspended by the Ntuen-led House included Luke, Udo Kerian Akpan, Felicia Bassey, Nse Essien, Lawrence Udofia, Usoro Akpanusoh, Ime Okon, Friday Iwok, Asuquo Archibong, Mark Esset, Emmanuel Ekpenyong, Aniekan Uko.

The APC lawmakers also proceeded to commence impeachment proceedings against the State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Luke had convened last week and suspended Ntuen and the four other APC lawmakers, who are believed to enjoy the support of an ex-Governor of the state, Sen. Godswill Akpabio.

Ntuen also dissolved all standing committees constituted by the former speaker and adjourned sitting until December 4.
