Kano and Borno State Governors, Rabiu Kwankwaso and Kashim Shettima have called on opposition leaders to put away politics and instead cooperate with President Goodluck Jonathan in his effort to bring the Chibok missing girls matter to a close.

Speaking to newsmen over the weekend, in Gusau, Zamfara State, Kwankwaso said, “with all humility, we in the opposition regret this dastardly act and condemn it in totality. We have to assist him and join hands with him (president) in bringing to an end this national disgrace.”

He said the President needed the support of every Nigerian to ensure the girls were released to their families in good health.

Also Governor Shettima, whilst speaking to members of the presidential fact-finding committee on the abduction of Chibok schoolgirls called for greater unity with President Jonathan.

“It is a national calamity and has to be seen as such. But for us as a government, we will remain focused and undeterred to bring the insurgency into an end. We will not politicise the unfortunate saga and we want Nigerians to do same. The very purpose of government existence is to ensure the security of lives and property of the people,” he stated.
