The Committee on Law, Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Reform operating under the National Conference has recommended payment of a similar sum as earned by National Youth Service Corps members to unemployed graduates in the country.

The Corpers in the country are currently compensated just under N20,000 by the FG.

Members of the committee adopted the position in order to reduce crime and other vices in the country. It is also meant to serve as a foundation tool in order to force the hand of government to begin paying welfare to its citizens.

A member of the committee said, “The recommendation is our own way of finding solutions to the rising wave of crime in the country and to also force the government to do the needful for the increasing number of unemployed graduates in the country.

“We have done our part and it is left for the delegates to either reject or accept it at plenary.”
