Coronavirus: Lagos Govt Confirms 4 New Cases

The Lagos State Government has confirmed four new cases of coronavirus in the state.

Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi made the disclosure at a news conference in Ikeja on Thursday.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 11, and 12 in Nigeria, with the other case being recorded in Ekiti State.

The commissioner explained that the four were part of 19 persons tested on Wednesday.

Abayomi disclosed that the four infected persons have been transferred to the Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba for isolation and treatment.

He further explained that one of the infected persons was a woman who had contact with another woman that recently returned from the United Kingdom.

The commissioner stated that the second new case was a lady that returned from France to Lagos on March 14. He said she came aboard a Turkish airline flight TK 1830.

He said the third case was a Nigerian man in his 50s who had not travelled abroad.

The fourth case, Abayomi revealed, was a Nigerian man who returned to Lagos from Frankfurt, Germany aboard Lufthansa airline flight LH568.

He urged all those aboard the flights to self-isolate and call given emergency numbers if need be.

The commissioner added that more tests were being carried out.

“Currently, we are following over 1,300 people right now to find information about the state of their health and the number is increasing,” the commissioner stated.
