There is unease in Kogi after the state government announced that seven persons have gone into self-isolation.

The state’s health ministry said the individuals went into the compulsory 14-day self-isolation having been exposed to a risk of contracting coronavirus.

State Commissioner for Health, Dr Saka Audu, who disclosed this on Tuesday in Lokoja, said that the persons had been put under strict monitoring by the ministry.

He disclosed this in a post on his Facebook page.

According to Audu, the affected persons had visited COVID-19 high-risk countries in the last one month.

He explained that five of them are in isolation in Lokoja, while the remaining two are in Okene and Ajaokuta.

He enjoined anyone who just returned from any of the high-risk countries to contact the ministry for necessary action in order to prevent the escalation of the virus.

This is just as the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirmed two new cases of coronavirus in the country, bringing the total number of cases to 44.

NCDC said that one case apiece was recorded in the Federal Capital Territory and Bauchi State.

“2 new cases of #COVID19 have been confirmed in Nigeria: 1 in FCT and 1 in Bauchi

“The cases have travel history to Germany and the UK.

“As at 06:25 pm on 24th March, there are 44 confirmed cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria. 2 have been discharged with 1 death,” NCDC said in a tweet.
