The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has given the Department of State Services (DSS) the go-ahead to detain the former lead negotiator for the kidnapped Kaduna-Abuja train passengers, Tukur Mamu for 60 more days.

The presiding judge, Justice Nkeonye Maha gave the ruling on Tuesday.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the ruling followed an ex-parte motion moved by counsel for the DSS, Ahmed Magaji.

The DSS had, in the motion marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1617/2022 and dated September 12, prayed the court to grant its request to enable it to conclude the investigation on Mamu.

Recall that Mamu was arrested on Wednesday, September 7 at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano by the secret police.

He was earlier nabbed by Egyptian authorities in collaboration with the Nigerian secret police at the Cairo International Airport on Tuesday, September 6.

Mamu had embarked on the lesser hajj to Saudi Arabia alongside his family when he was arrested and repatriated to Nigeria.

On Sunday, the DSS warned Nigerians against making incendiary comments on Mamu’s arrest.

Spokesman of the service, Dr. Peter Afunanya, who gave the warning, also said that the suspect had made “mindblogging” revelations during interrogation.
