An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun on Friday remanded a 41-year-old man, Tajudeen Elugbemi, in prison over alleged attempted murder and assult.
Elugbemi had pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of assault and attempted murder.
The Magistrate, Olalekan Ijiyode, refused the accused bail and held that he was a notorious and hardened criminal who had proved to be a thong on the flesh of the masses.
He, therefore, ordered the remanded of the accused in Ile-Ife prison, pending the consideration of his bail.
The Prosecutor, Sgt Sunday Osanyintuyi, had told the court that the accused committed the offence on Nov. 7, around 8:39 p.m. at Akui Street, Ile-Ife.

He said the accused assaulted Owojori by using a big stone to hit him on his mouth which resulted in a severe injury.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 320 and 355 of the Criminal Code of Osun, 2002.
The defence counsel, Mr Ben Adirieje, applied for the bail of the accused in most liberal term, and promised that he would not jump bail.
