Award-winning journalist, David Hundeyin has berated Director of Strategic Communication in the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Dele Alake over his claim on the source of wealth of the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

The Herald earlier reported that Alake said Tinubu did not join politics as a pauper.

He said that the former Lagos governor built his wealth by investing in stocks of blue chip companies, although he failed to name the companies.

β€œHe made his money well before he got into office. I think what is important to Nigerians, really, is to know that this man was not a pauper before he came into office, like some others,” Alake said on Sunday.

Reacting in a Twitter thread on Monday, Hundeyin disputed the claim that Tinubu gained wealth by investing in stocks.

He said Alake’s claim was not evidence-based.

“A smart liar would know that stock trading is an activity that leaves a public record paper trail. Debunking the “Tinubu traded stocks” lie is as simple as checking publicly available SEC records.

“Mr Publicist has collected USD to market a known drug trafficker for president, and now he’s stuck because he has no reasonable argument to make.

“So the only option as a proper Nigerian Boomer, is to push out his chest and start saying nonsense with vigour and vim.

“Any kind of personal integrity be damned. Man must receive that USD wire transfer by any means necessary.

“Even at the cost of coming out of all this looking like a complete fool,” Hundeyin said.
