The Special Adviser to Governor Ambode on Commerce, Deji Tinubu slumped on Thursday afternoon during a novelty football match in Epe, where state executives and permanent secretaries are holding a retreat with the governor.

 

He was confirmed dead at the General Hospital, Epe on Thursday evening.

 

He collapsed and died at 52 on his besotted football pitch but Deji Tinubu, former chairman of the Lagos State Sports Commission, had the physical body of a 40-year-old that was virile and ruddy few months before his demise.

 

This much was disclosed by his well-known friend and business associate, Deji Omotoyinbo while speaking about efforts to immortalise the legacy Tinubu left behind in different spheres of human endeavours – especially in sports and media communications.

 

However, a review of the immediate-past chairman of Lagos State Sports Commission’s tweets hinted that he might have had a premonition of his fate.

 

The real recognition Deji Tinubu got not as a football player, but as a radio and TV sports analyst. He was one of the founders of sports broadcasting agency called SportsVision Nigeria. One of the most loved call-in programmes on the radio was Deji Tinubu morning sports topic on Cool FM.

 

Tweeting via @dejitinubu on Monday, January 22, the sports broadcaster said: “Football ???!!! Bloody hell !!!!”
