Dogara Offers Free Medical Outreach To 10,000 In Bauchi

The Speaker, House of Representatives, Mr Yakubu Dogara, on Monday commenced a five-day free medical treatment for 10,000 indigent people in Bauchi State.

Speaking on behalf of Dogara, Alhaji Aminu Tukur, member at the Bauchi State House of Assembly, said that the programme was to enable the beneficiaries to access healthcare services.

Similarly, the Medical Team Leader, Dr Joseph Kigbu, said that the ailments to be treated includes eye and gynecological surgeries, distribution of over 2,000 reading glasses, HIV, Hepatitis, Diabetic, Lassa fever, Malaria and Tuberculosis tests as well general public health education.

“We will go for minor and major surgeries; today we will be in surgery on conjoined babies here in this facility.

“We would see a wide range of diseases; we would look after patients who have cataract, people who need reading glasses to read, patients with diabetes will also be screened.

“We will also be in Azare and Dass local governments in few weeks,” he said.

According to him, the exercise is an intervention to complement the Federal Government healthcare services.

The Deputy Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital (ATBU-TH), Dr Rabiu Gwadabe, had earlier appreciated the initiative.

He said that the facility would also support the exercise with relevant assistance including medical personnel.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that a similar exercise was conducted by Dogara in 2016. (NAN)
