Controversial Nigerian singer, Eedris Abdulkareem, has asserted that he played a pivotal role in leading a musical revolution that paved the way for the global recognition enjoyed by artists such as Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido today. Abdulkareem credits his rebellion against poor treatment of Nigerian artistes by show promoters in 2004, particularly during a clash with American rapper 50 Cent and his G-Unit members in Nigeria, as the catalyst for the international respect Nigerian musicians now command.

In the latest episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, Abdulkareem candidly admitted that his act of defiance affected his career but emphasized that it was a “beautiful sacrifice” that contributed to the emergence of the current generation of Nigerian music superstars.

He addressed Burna Boy’s statement about receiving minimal help in Nigeria, labeling it as “stupid talk” and emphasizing that without the revolutionary actions taken by earlier artists, the current stars wouldn’t be where they are today. Abdulkareem stated, “fighting for the Nigerian music industry affected my career, but it was a beautiful sacrifice that gave birth to Davido, Burna Boy, Wizkid, and everybody today.

Asserting his belief that he fulfilled a divine mandate, Abdulkareem expressed that he opened the doors for the current generation of artists to achieve global success. While acknowledging the impact on his own career, he remains steadfast in his commitment, stating, “It’s their responsibility to appreciate the fight. And if they don’t, I don’t give a dime.
