All hell was let loose at Iwhrekpokpor, Ughelli, Delta State recently.

The uproar was caused by a 32-year-old banker and mother of two known as Peace, who allegedly took her own life due to the trauma of her husband’s supposed infidelity.

Before her death, the deceased was in the employment of a new generation bank situated at Market Road, Ughelli.

She reportedly ingested insecticide on Wednesday, which ultimately led to her demise.

“Her lifeless body was discovered in her apartment on Wednesday. She had been having issues with her husband. She took some drugs and an empty container of an insecticide, Sniper, was found near her corpse,” said a close friend of the deceased who did not want to be identified.

It was gathered that the marriage between the deceased and her husband was fraught with problems causing them to separate.

Though they were eventually reconciled by their respective families the husband of the deceased refused to cohabit with her for unknown reasons.

On the said day of the incident, the husband of the deceased was not at home when the tragic situation occurred.

Concerted efforts were made to get the Police Public Relations Officer of Delta State Police Command, Mr Andrew Aniamaka to give a statement on the issue at hand though futile.

However a source in the police force affirmed the incident.

“She returned home from work and took some mixtures. We are still investigating the matter,” said the source.

Meanwhile, the family are in denial that the deceased would do such an act, alleging foul play in the matter due to their suspicion of the husband whom they feel is responsible for her death.
