Hadi Sirika, Minister of Aviation has ordered the impoundment of a British aircraft, Flair Aviation for conducting commercial flights in Nigeria.

Flair Aviation had earlier been given the approval to conduct humanitarian flights into the country.

However, the UK company was caught violating the rules of their approval by carrying out commercial activities with their aircraft.

Hadi Sirika who made the disclosure on his social media page said that the crew of the aircraft was undergoing interrogation.

“#COVID-19. Flair Aviation, a UK company, was given approval for humanitarian operations but regrettably, we caught them conducting commercial flights.

“This is callous! The craft is impounded, the crew being interrogated. There shall be a maximum penalty. Wrong time to try our resolve!”.

It would be recalled that the federal government banned commercial flight operations in and out of the country as part of efforts to mitigate the spread of Coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
