The Governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu and his Jigawa counterpart, Sule Lamido have denied breaking ranks with the Peoples Democratic Party.

Speaking to journalists earlier today, the Chief Press Secretary to the Niger State Governor, Mr. Danladi Ndayebo denied claims that his principal had broken ground with the PDP.

“My principal remains in the PDP. He has not left the party, he is not a part of the merger…” Mr. Ndayebo said.

Another source also stated that Sule Lamido was also not a part of the merger. Governor Lamido’s sons are currently the focus of an intensive Economic and Financial Crimes Commission investigation into how N10 billion mysteriously left Jigawa state coffers and reappeared in the bank accounts of companies belonging to his sons.

Lamido is believed to be treading carefully so as not to attract the wrath of the Federal Government.
