The Gombe State Head of Service, Dr Daniel Musa, has called for constitutional roles for traditional rulers to strengthen national security.

Musa made the call on Saturday while speaking with newsmen in Deba, headquarters of Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Area of Gombe, shortly after he was turbaned as the Kaigama Deba.

“Given the traditional rulers some roles in the constitution is important, especially relating to security.

“Is good to know if anybody enters their domain and who the person has come to visit.

“These days, people come into town without the ward head knowing, talk less of the Emir.

“These are the issues that need to be addressed. It will go a long way in addressing security threat,’’ he said.

Speaking at the turbaning ceremony, the Emir of Deba, Retired Lt.-Col. Abubakar Mahdi, said the bearer of the title `Kaigama’, would play an advisory role in the Emirate.

He described the new Kaigama as an illustrious son of the Emirate who love the people.

The traditional ruler urged him, to continue doing the good things he has been doing to the entire citizens of Deba.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Kaigama was born in Gombe in 1958. (NAN)
