Guinness Nigeria provides 1.5m Nigerians with portable water –Chairman

2 Min Read

In fulfillment of its social corporate responsibility to its host community, Guinness Nigeria has provided 1.5 million Nigerians with potable water, its chairman, Mr Babatunde Savage, has said.

The chairman, who made the disclosure on Tuesday in Benin during the inauguration of a new production line, said the company provided potable water to 25 communities in 14 states across the country.

Savage said: “as a responsible corporate citizen, Guinness Nigeria is interested in more than running a profitable business.

“We are also enriching our communities with investments in the area of provision of water, health facilities, education and scholarships among others.
“For example, in the area of water supply, we have impacted over 1.5 million people in Nigeria through the provision of potable water.’’

Also speaking, Mr John O’Keeffe, the President of Diageo Africa, said Nigeria remained a very important market.

He said that the inauguration of a new production line reinforces Guinness Nigeria’s position as the first and only beverage alcohol company in Nigeria.

In his remarks; Gov. Godwin Obaseki of Edo commended Guinness Nigeria for the inauguration of the new production line and for meeting its social corporate responsibility to its host community.

“We see this project as an opportunity in this recession for us to partner with the company in our quest to create 200,000 jobs.’’
He said that in its efforts to grow agribusiness, the government would make land available to Guinness and other interested companies operating in the state
