Police fired off gunshots around 19:45 HRS this evening in a skirmish with motorcycle operators near the popular Ajao estate along Airport road in Lagos.
Speaking to The Herald by telephone, a traveller heading to the international airport said the incident occured in between First Bank and GTBank in traffic heading towards Oshodi on the other side of the road where Ajao estate entrance are located.
The eyewitness said several cars were abandoned as armed robbers notorious for operating in that area where robbing motorists stuck in traffic in a vehicle to vehicle melee.
Lagosians who are moving around the metropolis especially at night are cautioned to be careful as crime in traffic is reaching heightened levels ahead of the Yuletide.
