The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the killing of a member of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Daniel Adejuyigbe, by suspected herdsmen in the state.
According to The Punch, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr. Tee Leo Ikoro, confirmed the incident on Wednesday.
Adejuyigbe was said to have been killed after he joined a search party that went looking for a farmer, Mr. Solomon Akinmeji, who was allegedly kidnapped by herdsmen on his farm in Iju community in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Confirming Akinmeji’s kidnap and Adejuyigbe’s killing, youth leader in the town, Mr. Ayodeji Ogundeji, said that the former’s kidnap occurred on Saturday at his farm in an area called Okeji farm settlement in Iju community.
Ogundeji stated that some men that were with the kidnapped farmer escaped being kidnapped but with bruises on their bodies.
This, he said, caused the community to organise a search party on Sunday morning but it continued on Tuesday morning when the first effort did not yield fruit.
He explained that Adejuyigbe was killed after he strayed from his search party that comprised 30 youths and OPC members from the community.
Ogundeji said that the suspected herdsmen captured Adejuyigbe, bound his hands and legs and shot him before taking to their heels.
