One of the leaders of EndSARS protests in Osogbo, Osun State, Omolola Pedro says five persons died when security agents in Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s convoy opened fire as hoodlums attacked the convoy.

Pedro identified the victims as the DJ, one Mutiu, Lekan and three other persons whose names have not been confirmed.

The Herald had reported that the incident occurred around Olaiya Junction in Osogbo as Oyetola addressed the EndSARS protesters.

It was gathered that some youths began to hurl stones at his vehicle and gunshots rent the air.

He was immediately escorted off the scene by security agents who forced the convoy through the crowd and armed men shot at protesters.

The Osun State Government in a statement said that the attack was a “street coup” and an “assassination attempt” on the governor.

However, the statement was silent on the number of those killed when security agents opened fire.

The Osun State Police Command later said that two persons were killed.

Speaking on the number of casualties, Pedro said, “Five people died; our DJ, one Mutiu, Lekan and two others that we don’t have their identities yet.”

The police command also said that the Osun Mall was attacked by hoodlums and several shops looted.
