Are you a victim of harassment, cyberbullying, character assassination, and other illegal activities of loan apps in Nigeria?
Well, you can report such activities to the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) through [email protected].
Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the commission, Babatunde Irukera disclosed this on Wednesday.
Taking to the FCCPC’s Twitter handle, Irukera said the commission has recorded a significant reduction in the number of consumer complaints regarding illegal digital money lending activities.
Irukera attributed the reduction in complaints about loan apps in Nigeria to the enforcement embarked on by the FCCPC joint taskforce.

“I agree that some activities of digital money lending institutions have destroyed relationships, whether professional or personal, and that is why we are doing all we can.
“I will be the first person to agree that there is a problem out there.
“Messages are still coming, harassment is still coming, but frankly, we have been tracking this for a while,” he added.
The FCCPC boss said that the complaints was the lowest recorded in the last two years, following several enforcement embarked by the commission.
“This is the lowest it has been in two years. From March that we started this enforcement; there has been a significant reduction.
“I will say that after our enforcement last month, we counted probably less than 25 per cent looking at the tracking of the complaints that came in.
“But 25 per cent is not it, we will keep doing what we are doing, even adding more,” Irukera said.
He said that the taskforce would continue to set the guard rails and make the loan shark businesses difficult.
“Wherever we find their bank accounts, we lock it down, whatever applications they are using, we go to google, we take them down,” Irukera said.
He said that in pursuant to the order of the commission, google had taken down over 70 applications and the FCCPC had locked out over 60 bank accounts.
The executive vice chairman said that flutterwave had also taken down dozen applications.

After applying, the offer was bad, over 50% interest in a week and I told them I don’t have interest but was surprised to see a credit alert and immediately I chat them back, the no was not going through. I have terrible experience with CASHFARM loan App. Loan of 6,200 they over charged me with the additional of 3,800 in just a one week. The worst part of it is that, they dubiously called me before the due date and started shouting at me that I should go and pay the loan. When I noticed that they want to humiliate me I told them since they violate the normal practice of repayment I will not pay with the interest, which immediately I paid 6,200 into their account that is in the App, after that I paid additional 2000 interest under duress. But up to yesterday they are telling me that they did not receive the 6,200 but they acknowledge the recipient of 2000 interest. And all the amount I paid to them is not showing in my dashboard. Overcharging is increasing everyday. Now they are illegally harassing me. Yesterday one of them said he will ruin my life. I have evidence of our chats, calls and the evidence of payment. Am doing to take legal action, which I want to start from here FCCPC.

These loan apps has done more damage than good to people. They go as sending messages to your contacts, tagging your pictures with either RIP or HIV positive. Threatening your life and that of your family. Please something need to be done about these fraudster and Scammers, whom wants to rip off poor Nigerians causing them high blood pressure. So many Nigerians have lost their lives because of the threat leading to depression. These loan app needs to be shut down with immediate effect before many lives is lost

Hi cash loan is threaten me by calling all my contact least and post my pictures as obituary. Actually they lend me 13,000 to pay 20,000 in 7 days. The money was disbursed on the 28/12/2022 which is due on 3rd January 2023. As at 2:30 pm on the due day, they started calling my contact and started threaten me that they’ll post my pictures as obituary.
When they call me on the due date in the morning, I told them that am in my working place and I will call them in the evening after closing hours.

Last week someone called me that he has seen my credit ratings with other loan apps that it is high meaning that i have good credit record,that there is this new loan offer that gives 100,000 to repay in 3 months. I told him its a lie and he convinced me to give it a try. I downloaded and filled information including my bank details,i never applied or submitted for any amount,the next thing i saw 4,960 naira was credited to my account,to repay over 8k in a week.
I called the guy and asked him what is the meaning of that,that is it 4,960 that is my problem,what happened to the 100k. He didn’t even talk about the 100k,i told him i will return the money to the account in the app,he said i should not that in 1hr time they will reverse it,i asked him how he can reverse money from my account knowing fully well its impossible. After about 2 or 3 hours that same day i returned the money to the account given in the app,i have bank evidence of the time i returned the money. I called the guy and told him i have returned the money and they should not call me for any silly loan again.
Today so many numbers are calling and threatening me to go and pay balance of money i didn’t borrow or apply for. Thanks.

Here is the above msg sent to my phone after the above name mentioned sent part of their loan to them with lots of interest. I wonder how many of her contact list might have received this. I spoke with her and she said her money was 38k with now increase to that amount abobe he complained about her network but the blessing agent still went ahead and send it to her contact list this ggmoney needs to pay for damages for harassmentt, threatening and the company needs to be eradicated.

Easycash loan app, is the worst fraudulent app that has been scamming people of their money.They will approve 35,100 and disburse 22,815 to your account and ask you to pay 37,557 within 7 days. If you complain they will start sending threat messages.

I am currently facing challenges with newcredit now. I’ve been unable to make transfers due to bank network and we are all aware of the situation that everyone is facing in Nigeria regarding being able to withdraw cash. I couldn’t even do ATM transfer as well. My second installment was due on Saturday but I was able to complete my second installment last night. Now they are insisting on me paying overdue charges and as of yesterday, #1,420 was the overdue charge. I said I can’t pay that amount. When I paid the second installment yesterday, I woke up this morning only to see another #1,420 added, meaning that is 2 days overdue. The date for the last installment is not yet due but they are already charging me. This is really unbearable for me and something has to be done about it. I was going through the app when I mistakenly took the loan, although I cancelled it immediately, they forced it and the loan processed. I did not complain about paying the #25,000 interest, now they are forcing me to pay some useless overdue charges without even considering the current situation in Nigeria, no network, no cash. I really can’t take this at all. Please this organization should assist me.

I have had very bad experiences with many of these loan sharks. The surprising thing is many of them are illegal and can not even initiate any legal case against their defaulters hence they resolve to harassment and defamation of character to weaken their defaulters psychologically and made them pay. Unfortunately, those who can not with these threats and pressure fall easily to avoid further embarrassment. Guys any loan app that harasses you, face them and challenge them back, after all, they have already embarrassed you, and it didn’t make you less than a human being nor will they make the heavens fall because of their empty threats.

I borrowed of #26,000 from cycle cash for 2-weeks and have paid them #36,000 naira. Although the repayment was not done at the due date because of the political clash in Ibadan. The CBN policy on new naira note was another problem that affected my business. UltraNaira loan app agent has started sending threatening messages to me again after some after keeping from me for a week. I didn’t collect any loan from them. The company open account with Wema bank account with my details and deposited some amount of money which they claimed is due for payment but I insisted I cannot pay for what I did not eat. I told them to go to the app and claim their money.

Please I requested for a loan with eagle cash 3,900 and I only saw 2,730 in my Zenith account I didn’t say a word thinking it was my bank that’s doing that and I paid 4,741 naira to them I requested another 23,900 only to see 17,900 I went to my bank to my surprise that was what they paid I have paid them what I know I’m owing them 18,473 only for me to wake up to see they have added 1,174 naira that I defaulted which I didn’t I only minused 1,461 from the first loan request and paid them 17,900 they paid with their interest. There’s no contact no to call and their email isn’t working please I really need them to be closed down cos I have gone online to see that I’m not the only one crying out they have been doing this to other people.
