I am no longer in PDP – Edwin Clark

Chief Edwin Clark, a staunch supporter of immediate-past President Goodluck Jonathan, has declared his exit from the Peoples Democratic Party.

The prominent Ijaw leader and former Federal Commissioner for Information said this in his Abuja home on Wednesday when a group, Think Nigeria First Initiative, paid him a courtesy visit.

Clark however said he does not plan to join the ruling All Progressives Congress as may be suggested in some quarters.

It will be recalled that Chief Clark declared back in June that he will be supporting President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, stating that he believed the former general had what it takes to lead Nigeria.

The reason for his exit from the party that led Nigeria for 16 years is unknown, but some say it may not be unconnected with the defeat of his protégé, Dr Jonathan, at the presidential elections.
