A 28-year-old man who had earlier attempted to commit suicide by jumping into the Lagoon around 12am has revealed his reason for doing so.

According to the man, who has been identified as Princewell David, he wanted to commit suicide because his girlfriend broke up with him.

David, who is a resident of Tajudeen Balogun Street, Igando, Lagos, had ordered an Uber ride from his residence to the Lekki area of the state.

On getting to the Third Mainland Bridge at midnight, David asked the driver to stop to allow him to urinate.

The driver immediately drove close to the section where officials of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) were stationed to inform them about the unusual action of his passenger.

However, before the driver could alert the RRS, David came down from the Uber and jumped into the lagoon.
