I Will Support Biafra Struggle If – Fr Mbaka

Respected Catholic priest Rev. Father Ejike Mbaka has stated the condition under which he would consider joining the struggle for the demand for a Biafran nation.

He said he would support the agitation if those truly behind the agitations and demonstrations that have now become an everyday occurrence in the South East and South South geo-political zones would step forward to lead it.

While re-affirming his belief in the project called Nigeria, he urged the Biafra agitators to turn their attention to better things, while saying that the agitations were capable of scaring investors away from the zones.

Rev Fr Mbaka further said that the agitations if not nipped in the bud could escalate to Boko-Haram like proportions.

“If this nation collapses, it is on us all. If things go well, it is for our own good. I want you to know that if there is any of you here that is oppressed, we are being oppressed too. What I am begging is that things should be done in the right way. Because, if we continue like this, all the visions the governors of Igboland have, vision for employment and economic diversification, will be frustrated,” he said.

While appealing to all to join hands to develop Igboland, the clergyman said: “No investor can come into a city filled with crises. So, wherever you are, saying, ‘let them (the protesters) move on’, the only way I can support it is when you join them. So, please, I am begging all of us, let us join hands and develop our place, Igboland.”
