An affidavit presented by Toheeb Lawal of Law Corridor, a reputable law firm in Abuja, was submitted before the District Court of Abuja, presenting reports as exhibits A and B, confirming D’banj’s exoneration.

In 2020, D’banj faced accusations of rape, prompting the Inspector General of Police to order a thorough investigation into the matter. The police report, dated November 14, 2023, and bearing case number CR:3000/X/FHQ/ABJ/SEB/T.1/VOL 18/284, stated that there was insufficient evidence to support the claims against the artist.

According to the report signed by ACP YY Abubakar of the Special Enquiry Bureau at the Force Criminal Investigations Department, the investigation extended to the Glee Hotel in Lagos, where the alleged incident took place. However, the hotel’s management and staff denied any involvement by D’banj, asserting that he was not present on the said date, and there was no record of the complainant as a guest.

The report highlighted, “There is no medical report on the victim to ascertain that she was raped. There are no adduced facts or corroborative evidence to substantiate the allegation of rape against the suspect.” Furthermore, it revealed that the complainant voluntarily withdrew the petition and discontinued the investigation.
