Real Madrid captain, Sergio Ramos has lambasted Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann for comparing himself to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Griezmann had made the comparison after his name was missing from the FIFA The Best three-man shortlist that includes Cristiano Ronaldo, Luka Modric and Mohamed Salah.

The 27-year-old, who won the World Cup with France in July, said he “already sits where Messi and Cristiano are”.

But Ramos, 32, would not have any of it, appearing to describe the Atletico starman as “ignorant”.

He also advised Griezmann to take advice from his manager, Diego Simeone and teammates Diego Godin and Koke.

The Spanish captain also went on to name many great players that did not win the FIFA best player award.

“Griezmann saying he is on the same table than Cristiano and Messi? Ignorance is very bold,” Ramos told journalists. “I remember Raúl, Francesco Totti, Iker Casillas, Paolo Maldini… They won every title and they don’t have a Ballon d’Or.

“Everybody is free to give his opinion and thoughts, but this guy should let himself be advised by Cholo Simeone, Diego Godín or Koke, who have some values which could be helpful to him.

“Anyway, he is a great player and I wish him the best.”
