INEC Suspends Elections in Polling Units over Card Readers hitches

The Independent National Electoral Commission have suspended elections in polling units till Sunday where there have been card reader hitches

National commissioner, in charge of information and voter education, Chris Iyimoga said the commission had noticed the challenges of the card reader in some areas and therefore resolved that elections in the affected areas be suspended until Sunday.

He said the problems were experienced in only few states and the affected Resident Electoral Commissioners (REC) of the states have been duly informed about the decision.

Answering question about the hacking into the commission’s website, national commissioner Dr Nuru Yakub confirmed the incidence and assured that INEC’s IT staff have since restored the functions of the website presently.
